First, I dropped about 40 lbs after eliminating meat and high glycemic carbohydrates from my diet (I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this for everyone, by the way). This action opened the door to me exploring fruits, vegetables and legumes in a way that I never had before. Motivated from this success, I decided to start running on a treadmill, even though I couldn’t run a full mile. Working my way up to 3 miles inspired me to join a running club and compete in races. Before I knew it, I was running half marathons distances regularly, eventually working up to a full marathon. Now I think of myself and the things I can do much differently than I did before.
